The estate
Committed to artisanal viticulture that respects the terroir and the environment, the Famille Perrin has, over the vintages, become an essential benchmark among the great wines of the Rhône Valley. A pioneer in the innovative approach to organic farming as early as 1950, followed by biodynamics in 1974, Famille Perrin crafts great wines recognized beyond borders for their quality and refinement.
The wine
This small parcel, covering less than one hectare, is planted with pre-phylloxera vines dating back around 100 years. With naturally low yields, production is limited to just 1,500 bottles per year.
Winemaking and aging
The harvest is carried out by hand. Once at the winery, the grapes undergo meticulous sorting before being placed into 50-hectoliter truncated-cone vats. The Grenache is destemmed, unlike the Syrah. This is followed by a pre-fermentation maceration period, before fermentation takes over. Tank work, such as punch-downs or pump-overs, is adapted as needed. The vatting period extends beyond fermentation. Once run off, the wines are aged for 18 months in foudres.
