A characterful Spanish wine from the prestigious Fillaboa estate in Rías Baixas
The estate
Founded at the end of the 18th century, the Fillaboa bodega truly came into its own after the creation of the D.O. Rías Baixas in 1988. Owned by the Masaveu family since 2000, the estate farms 50 hectares of vineyards in Galicia. Specializing in Albariño, Fillaboa stands out for its approach combining artisanal know-how with technological expertise. With more than 40 international awards, including 93 points from Tim Atkin, the estate has established itself as one of Galicia’s most prestigious producers, and is a member of the Asociación Grandes Pagos de España.
The vineyard
Fillaboa’s historic vineyard spans 50 hectares in Salvatierra de Miño, in the province of Pontevedra, at the heart of the D.O. Rías Baixas appellation. The vines, 18 to 36 years old, are planted on sandy-silty soils strewn with pebbles, on rolling hillsides bordering the Tea and Miño rivers. This exceptional terroir offers ideal conditions for the expression of Albariño.
The vintage
The 2024 vintage is defined by a long ripening cycle, with harvesting beginning around mid-September. This more advanced maturity made it possible to obtain a highly concentrated must, giving the wine greater aromatic richness and improved extraction of grape compounds.
Winemaking and aging
After harvest, Albariño 2024 is vinified in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, with alcoholic fermentation conducted between 14°C and 16°C. The wine is then aged on fine lees in stainless-steel tanks for at least 5 months, developing its creamy texture and aromatic complexity.
