An exceptional D.O. Rías Baixas albariño, generous and delicate
The estate
Founded in 1988 in Salvaterra de Miño in Galicia, the Fillaboa estate produces wines at the heart of the Rías Baixas appellation. It belongs to the Masaveu family, whose winemaking heritage dates back to the 14th century. The estate is dedicated exclusively to albariño, the region’s emblematic grape variety. Its exceptional terroir on the banks of the Miño River gives its wines remarkable aromatic intensity.
The vineyard
The Monte Alto plot covers 7 hectares at an altitude of 150 meters within the Rías Baixas appellation. The 34-year-old vines grow on sandy-silty soil strewn with numerous pebbles, close to the Miño River. Trained on trellises, these vines benefit from a unique terroir that gives the wine its characteristic minerality.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage began with early budburst in warm conditions, followed by cold spells and frost. The cool spring led to irregular fruit set due to rainfall. Summer proved extremely dry and hot, concentrating aromas in the berries and encouraging optimal ripening of the grapes.
Winemaking and aging
Albariño "Selección Finca Monte Alto" 2022 is made using a traditional method in stainless-steel tanks with temperature control (starting at 14°C, finishing at 16°C). Fermentation takes place with selected natural yeasts. The wine then undergoes extended aging for 24 months on fine lees in stainless-steel tanks, before being stabilized, filtered, and bottled.
