François Villard : Mairlant 2023

Blending grapes from the northern sectors of Chavannay (65%) and Ardoix/Sarras (35%) and fermented with 100% whole clusters, the 2023 Saint-Joseph Mairlant opens with prominent spice box notes, red plum, pencil shavings and a beautifully measured hint of orange rind. Sitting between medium and full-bodied and gently supported by finely sculpted tannins, the 2023 shows well at this early stage, offering substantial depth and class.
