Tasting

Appearance
Displaying a beautiful ruby hue, the wine reveals subtle garnet highlights.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with expressive notes of morello cherry, cherry and wild berries, delicately enhanced by hints of orange and sweet spices.

Palate
Delicate and full of elegance, the palate offers refined fruitiness supported by a pleasant saline freshness. The tannins, both fruity and pleasing, accompany a finish of remarkable persistence.

Food and wine pairings

This red wine pairs wonderfully with goat cheese ravioli, light roast meats, or feathered game such as hare. It can also accompany fish if served slightly chilled, as well as spiced cheeses.

Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate this wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 16 and 18°C. Endowed with fine potential, it can be cellared and enjoyed until around 2033.

The Alpine elegance of a great Italian Pinot Noir from Trentino-Alto Adige

The estate

Founded in 1898 by Christian Schrott, the Cantina Tramin cooperative cellar is a true institution located in the Trentino-Alto Adige region, in northern Italy. Now led by its president Leo Tiefenthaler, the estate brings together around 300 growers who tend their vines in a unique Alpine environment. Recognized as a benchmark brand for its excellence and sustainable approach, the winery produces wines that faithfully reflect the Mediterranean influence and mountainous character of Alto Adige.

The vineyard

The Pinot Noir vines flourish in Alto Adige at altitudes ranging between 400 and 600 metres. Aged between 15 and 25 years, they are planted on sandy loam soils and benefit from a predominantly westerly (80%) and south-westerly (20%) exposure. The climate stands out for its strong thermal contrast, combining sunny days under Mediterranean influence with cool nights swept by mountain winds. Yields are rigorously controlled at 35 hl/ha.

Winemaking and aging

The harvest takes place from the beginning to the end of October. The berries are picked in small crates before being gently destemmed and crushed. A cold maceration of three to five days is carried out while retaining 15% of whole bunches. Fermentation then proceeds slowly, under controlled temperature at 26°C in large oak vats, accompanied by regular punching down. After malolactic conversion, the wine is aged for 12 months in French barriques, then 6 months in concrete tanks, before resting for at least 6 months in bottle prior to release.
