A Mâconnais Chardonnay combining minerality and finesse

The estate

Founded in Monthélie in 1831 by Bernard Bichot, the Albert Bichot House settled permanently in Beaune in 1912. Led since 1996 by Albéric Bichot, sixth generation of an independent Burgundian family, it oversees six estates totaling 105 hectares of vineyards. A pioneer in certified organic farming since 2014, it combines a unique model bringing together the Bichot brand and six estates with distinct identities. Former supplier to the Swedish Court, it remains a benchmark of the Beaune wine trade.

The vineyard

This Viré-Clessé comes from the most recent appellation in the Mâconnais, created in 1999. The vines are planted on hillside slopes with stony clay-limestone soils, typical of the region. These terroirs are composed of white limestone stones locally known as "cray", which give the wine its distinctive minerality.

Winemaking and aging

Alcoholic fermentation and aging on fine lees take place 80% in stainless steel tanks and 20% in oak barrels over a period of 8 to 9 months.
