The authentic expression of a Piedmont white wine by Borgogno
The estate
Founded in 1761 by Bartolomeo Borgogno, this historic estate is a true reference in Piedmont. Now led by the Farinetti family, who took over in 2008, the estate perpetuates ancestral expertise with the utmost respect for local traditions. With a vineyard spanning 16 hectares, Borgogno produces wines renowned for their complexity and remarkable ageing potential. The commitment of the current team enhances this unique terroir while preserving the classic identity that has made the House famous.
The vineyard
Located within the Colli Tortonesi appellation, the vines benefit from an exceptional terroir mainly composed of marl-limestone soils. Reaching an altitude of around 250 meters, this vineyard in Piedmont offers ideal geological and geographical conditions for cultivating indigenous varieties, encouraging the development of great aromatic intensity.
The vintage
The year 2023 proved particularly demanding from a climatic perspective. These unique weather conditions notably favored a growing cycle leading to earlier harvests, allowing grapes to be picked in optimal health and balance.
Winemaking and ageing
The production of Derthona Timorasso 2023 begins with cold maceration, followed by spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks. The wine then undergoes careful ageing for 10 months in stainless steel tanks, a method chosen to preserve the purity and freshness of the fruit.
Grape variety
This wine is made exclusively from 100% Timorasso, an indigenous white grape variety of the region, once threatened with extinction and now enjoying a remarkable revival.
