Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Beaune 1er Cru "Marconnets" Domaine 2022 Bouchard Père & Fils
Tasting notes
Colour
The colour reveals a brilliant garnet-red hue, both luminous and translucent.
Nose
The bouquet is particularly open and remarkably pure. It exudes deep aromas of small red and black fruits, such as blackberry and blueberry, enhanced by subtle floral notes, a touch of black pepper and delicate oak.
Palate
The attack is direct and fruit-driven, introducing a full and generous body. The texture reveals itself as velvety and fleshy, supported by spicy, well-integrated tannins. The whole offers a remarkable balance between power and elegance, extending into a persistent finish with fruity and spicy accents.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine pairs wonderfully with characterful meats, such as feathered game or red meats accompanied by a mushroom reduction. It also enhances aged pressed-curd cheeses, such as Saint-Nectaire or Cîteaux.
Service and storage
To reveal its full complexity, it is advisable to decant this Beaune 1er Cru "Marconnets" Domaine 2022 one to two hours before serving at an ideal temperature of between 15 and 17°C. Built for ageing, it can be enjoyed until around 2032.
The elegance and structure of a Premier Cru from Beaune
The estate
Founded in 1731 by Michel Bouchard, the house of Bouchard Père & Fils is a true institution in France. Located in Burgundy, this historic estate oversees a remarkable vineyard of 130 hectares, spread across numerous prestigious plots. Now owned by Artémis Domaines, headed by the Pinault family, the estate operates under the direction of Emmanuel Dumont. Drawing on centuries of heritage, the producer stands out for its strong environmental commitment, illustrated by a transition towards organic farming. The wines authentically express the richness and diversity of Burgundy's terroirs.
The vineyard
The "Marconnets" climat overlooks the northern part of the town of Beaune. This specific terroir rests on soils composed of clay and limestone, with marly outcrops halfway up the slope. The immediate proximity of the limestone bedrock provides the vines with an environment conducive to producing structured wines. The plots benefit from a favourable exposure and a unique microclimate, cultivated with meticulous care to preserve the natural balance of the vine.
The vintage
The year began with a mild winter followed by a sudden frost episode in early April, the impact of which remained limited. Spring and summer were marked by an alternation of warm periods and rainy spells. Significant rainfall at the end of June provided crucial water reserves to withstand the summer heat. After some welcome rain in mid-August, the two weeks preceding the harvest offered dry, windy weather, ensuring perfect sanitary conditions for the bunches.
Winemaking and ageing
The berries destined for the Beaune 1er Cru "Marconnets" Domaine 2022 are hand-harvested in small crates and then rigorously sorted. Fully destemmed, the uncrushed grapes are gravity-fed into wooden vats. Maceration lasts around three weeks with regular punching down, with no addition of oenological products. Ageing then takes place over a period of 17 months in oak barrels, 25% of which are new, with no racking, in order to preserve the pure expression of the terroir.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
