Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Boudriotte" 2024 by Bruno Colin
Tasting
Appearance
The wine reveals a straw-yellow to pale gold hue with remarkable brilliance.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens on delicate notes of white flowers, harmoniously interwoven with aromas of white- and yellow-fleshed fruits such as peach, apricot, pear and mirabelle plum.
Palate
Ample and fleshy, the palate offers a dense texture and juicy flesh. It stands out for a remarkable balance between power and finesse, supported by beautiful tension. The finish is long, savoury and deeply marked by minerality.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine is ideally enjoyed as an aperitif. It also pairs wonderfully with cream-sauced poultry, a leek and hazelnut risotto, or goat cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
Endowed with strong ageing potential, this Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Boudriotte" 2024 is a wine for laying down that will evolve favourably in the cellar for around ten years.
A Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru combining power and mineral tension
The estate
Born in 2003 from the division of the family estate, Domaine Bruno Colin unveiled its first vintage in 2004. Located in the heart of Burgundy, this estate is now led by Bruno Colin. The vineyard extends over approximately 8.75 hectares spread across five prestigious villages of the Côte de Beaune. The winemaker stands out for his commitment to producing precise, taut and mineral white wines, moving away from overly opulent profiles. Through meticulous work on some fifty micro-plots, the estate has established itself as an essential signature of its appellation.
The vineyard
The cuvée comes from a tiny 0.24-hectare plot located on the Champs Jeandreau Climat, within the Morgeot area in Chassagne-Montrachet. Planted in 1951 and 1977, these old vines thrive on a clay-limestone terroir. The vineyard is farmed organically, with mechanical soil work including gentle ploughing. The harvest is carried out by hand and undergoes rigorous sorting directly at the vine.
Winemaking and ageing
The making of this Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Boudriotte" 2024 begins with 12 months of ageing in 350-litre barrels, 15 to 20% of which are new. The wine then benefits from an additional refining period of 4 to 6 months in vats before bottling, a method that preserves the full purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
