Description

Tasting Notes and Advice for Huré Frères' 4 Éléments Pinot Meunier Extra Brut 2019

Tasting Notes

Appearance
A white wine, this 4 Éléments Pinot Meunier Extra Brut reveals an intense straw-yellow hue, animated by fine, persistent bubbles.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet is remarkably complex, blending scents of yellow and red apples, orange zest, mirabelle plum and kumquat. These are joined by subtle notes of small red berries, hay, wet stone and freshly baked bread crust.

Palate
Structured and complex, the palate offers elegant fruit supported by ripe acidity and a chalky texture. The long, saline finish reveals delicious hints of citrus and toasted bread.

Food and Wine Pairings

This wine pairs wonderfully with refined dishes such as grilled lobster, truffled poultry, mushroom risotto, or a hard cheese like a long-aged Comté.

Serving and Cellaring

To fully appreciate this 4 Éléments Pinot Meunier Extra Brut 2019, it is recommended to serve it between 8 and 10 °C, ideally in a white wine glass. It can be enjoyed now or cellared until at least 2030.

The Pure Expression of Meunier by Champagne Huré Frères

The Estate

Founded in the early 1970s, the House of Champagne Huré Frères is an independent family estate located in Ludes. Spanning 10 hectares, the property is now run by brothers François and Pierre Huré. Renowned for its soil-respectful approach and parcel-by-parcel vinification, the house stands out for its use of reserve wines in solera and its blocking of malolactic fermentation. These demanding methods result in Champagne wines of remarkable precision, faithfully reflecting the identity of their terroirs.

The Vineyard

Sourced exclusively from the La Grosse Pierre plot in Ludes, in the Champagne region, this cuvée comes from old vines over 55 years old. This distinctive terroir rests on outcropping chalk covered by a very thin layer of clay, giving the grapes remarkable concentration and optimal natural balance.

The Vintage

The year 2019 was marked by extreme weather conditions. After spring-like temperatures as early as February and late frosts in April, the summer endured two intense heatwaves in July. Despite these climatic challenges and low yields, the harvested grapes displayed a perfect balance between sugar and acidity.

Winemaking and Aging

The making of the 4 Éléments Pinot Meunier Extra Brut 2019 begins with spontaneous fermentation and 18 months of aging in 600-litre demi-muids, without malolactic fermentation. The wine is then bottled under cork for its second fermentation, followed by extended aging on lees for around five years before disgorgement.
