The estate

Since 1843, the House of Champagne Krug has been paying tribute to the dream of its founder, Joseph Krug, by creating each year a new Edition of Krug Grande Cuvée, the most generous expression of Champagne, regardless of annual climatic variations.

The House believes that each Krug Vintage expresses the unique character of a particular year. A Krug Vintage brings together the most expressive wines from a single year, enhanced by more than ten years’ ageing in the cellar. Each Krug Vintage is different: it is the Music of the year, transposed into the world of Krug.

The vineyard

With more than 250 different parcels, including the prestigious Clos du Mesnil and Clos d’Ambonnay, the Krug House holds an exceptional vineyard heritage in Champagne.

The cuvée

Krug Grande Cuvée was born from the dream of a man, Joseph Krug, who wanted to offer the best possible champagne every year, regardless of the vagaries of the weather. By respecting the individuality of each parcel and building an extensive library of reserve wines, Joseph Krug was able to make his dream come true. With a different approach to creating Champagne, he decided to go beyond the notion of vintage to create each year the most generous expression of Champagne: Krug Grande Cuvée.

Each year, the Krug House thus honors its founder’s dream with a new Edition of Krug Grande Cuvée, the most generous expression of Champagne: a blend of more than 120 wines from 10 different years, made from 3 grape varieties, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier.

The blending of wines from so many different years gives Krug Grande Cuvée its unique generosity of flavors and aromas, impossible to express with wines from a single year. Each glass is the result of more than 20 years of patience and savoir-faire.

Like all Krug Champagnes, its ageing potential is excellent. Each Edition is unique and tells its own story thanks to the Krug iD, the six digits printed on the back label of every bottle of Champagne Krug. It can be used to organize your own bottle collection and enjoy them at a later date.
