An exceptional Grand Cru champagne from a unique terroir in the Montagne de Reims
The estate
Founded in 1929 by 24 winegrowers from Mailly-Champagne, the Mailly Grand Cru cooperative now represents 80 member-producers. Located in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, it remains the only Champagne producer to source exclusively Grand Cru grapes from a single village. Under the leadership of Sébastien Moncuit, Cellar Master since 2013 and named Champagne Winegrower of the Year 2026 by the Guide Hachette des Vins, the House embodies the excellence of a unique terroir and a commitment to environmental stewardship. B Corp certified since 2025 and fully HVE and VDC certified since 2021.
The vineyard
L'Intemporelle 2019 comes from a selection of Grand Cru parcels located exclusively in the village of Mailly-Champagne, in Champagne. The estate spans more than 70 hectares across 35 distinct lieux-dits, all oriented toward the four cardinal points. The chalky soils, characteristic of this exceptional terroir, perfectly regulate temperature and the vines’ water supply. This chalk gives the wines a distinctive minerality and remarkable freshness, expressed particularly in the Pinot Noirs grown on predominantly north-facing slopes.
The vintage
The year 2019 in Champagne began with an exceptionally warm February, followed by severe frosts in April that affected around 15% of the region’s vineyard area. A rainy May encouraged the development of downy mildew, quickly brought under control by a first heatwave in June. A second wave of heat in late July, with temperatures reaching 43°C, required rigorous grape sorting. Despite these climatic challenges, the mild conditions of August and September made it possible to obtain grapes showing a fine balance between sugar and acidity, along with remarkable freshness.
Vinification and aging
The grapes for L'Intemporelle 2019 were harvested by hand and pressed as whole clusters. Alcoholic fermentation took place at 15°C in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation also took place in stainless-steel tanks. The wine was then aged on laths in the historic chalk cellars carved 19 meters underground, where it captured its effervescence during the secondary fermentation. This cuvée is presented in numbered white bottles, highlighting its exclusive character.
