Description
The Expression and Structure of a Saint-Estèphe Wine
The Estate
Founded in the 18th century, Château Haut-Marbuzet flourished from 1952 under the leadership of Hervé Duboscq. Located in Saint-Estèphe, in Bordeaux, the estate now covers 70 hectares. Run by Henri Duboscq and his sons, the château stands out for its predominantly Merlot plantings and its ageing in new barrels, which lend its wines a rare smoothness.
The Vineyard
The vines of Château Haut-Marbuzet thrive on the distinctive terroirs of Saint-Estèphe, where gravel and clay soils give the wines their structure and personality. This unique terroir, together with the nearby Gironde estuary, offers ideal conditions for the expression of Bordeaux grape varieties.
The Vintage
The 2024 vintage will be remembered as one of the most challenging the estate has ever faced. Disastrous weather conditions, with weekly rainfall from October to June, led to downy mildew pressure unseen since 1952. The harvest, which took place from 23 September to 10 October 2024, produced extremely low yields of 19 hl/ha, the lowest ever recorded at the property.
Blend
Château Haut-Marbuzet 2024 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
