The 2020 La Connivence, 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, is deep garnet-purple in color. After a fair bit of swirling, the nose erupts with notes of baked black plums, chocolate-covered cherries, and boysenberry preserves, followed by suggestions of licorice, crushed rocks, truffles, and roses. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers fantastic tension and beautifully ripe, plush tannins to support the lively black berry layers, finishing long and perfumed.
