Wine Spectator

James Molesworth

Fresh and focused, with a racy beam of cassis and blackberry compote flavors carried by a long, bright iron streak. Pleasantly austere through the finish, with the fruit matching the minerality nicely. Best from 2019 through 2023. 3,700 cases made, 890 cases imported.

Decanter

This has a lightness of touch with good, flexible tannins and a well-judged level of extraction, giving presence and impact on the palate without feeling heavy. They’re not aiming for high drama but for drinkability, still with plenty of Pauillac seriousness and a lovely shower of fresh mint on the finish. Good quality. 50% new oak.

Light in color and on the palate, this wine is simple with a forward, red berry flair coursing right down the middle. 84 - 86 pts

Opulent, sweet, creamy bouquet with plums, strawberries, caramel, mocha cream. Velvety, broad palate with sweet fruit, medium-bodied structure, finely sandy tannins, medium aromatics, dry finish. 16/20 2023 - 2032

La RVF

The oak influence is still present on the palate and wraps around the fruit. The substance is there nonetheless, and a few years in the cellar will allow it all to come together.

A fruity wine on both the nose and palate, medium-bodied yet flavorful, with smooth, rounded tannins.

This is the Pauillac-appellation portion of a larger vineyard, Château Peyrabon, which is in the Haut-Médoc. The wine is rich, perfumed and likely to age very well. Juicy acidity and firm texture go with the black-currant fruit in a wine that will become balanced and elegant. Drink from 2024.

Description

This 2015 La Fleur Peyrabon displays a purple-tinted dense red colour. This Pauillac gives off a light woody note (because aged in oak barrels), but also has a good texture that will digest the wood. On swirling, this Chateau La Fleur Peyrabon Cru Bourgeois softens by expressing dark berry aromas, mainly dominated by blueberry and a hint of liquorice. The palate is well-built on perfectly ripped quality tannins with a refreshing sap. This wine is robust and promising.
