Innovation in the Service of a Great White Wine by Château Marjosse

The Estate

Built in 1782 with the construction of its chartreuse, Château Marjosse is a historic estate. Spanning a vineyard of around fifty hectares, this property stands out for its approach combining tradition and experimentation. Today, Pierre Lurton heads the estate, having gradually acquired the property to become its sole owner in 2013. A true space for creative freedom for this winegrower, the estate distinguishes itself through its drive for innovation and its environmental commitment.

The Vineyard

Located in Grézillac, in the Entre-Deux-Mers, the vineyard rises to sixty metres in altitude on sloping hillsides between the Dordogne and the Garonne. It benefits from a microclimate that is notably cooler than the rest of the region. The vines flourish on a mosaic of clay-limestone soils, marked by the exceptional presence of asteria limestone breaking through the surface. Freeing itself from traditional rules to fully express its terroir, this wine is classified as Vin de France.

The Vintage

The year 2023 was marked by specific climatic conditions throughout the growing season, requiring great precision and sharp harvest decisions from the technical team.

Winemaking and Ageing

To craft the Anthologie de Marjosse "Cuvée Chardonneret" 2023, the grapes are harvested mechanically early in the morning, then hand-sorted. Gentle pneumatic pressing is carried out under dry ice protection to preserve the full aromatic richness and limit oxidation. After a few days of cold maceration on lees, fermentation takes place at low temperature over one to two weeks. Ageing continues on fine lees in concrete vats for two to three months, accompanied by regular bâtonnage.

Grape Variety

Chardonnay (100%).
