Robert Parker

Robert M. Parker, Jr.

Made before this famed proprietor began to turn out spectacular wines (1985 and later), the 1982 has aged surprisingly well given its soft, low-acid, forward, precocious character. There is considerable amber at the edge, in addition to abundant quantities of sweet kirsch liqueur, black cherry, mineral, earth, and smoke aromas. Supple, plush, and round, with low acidity yet rustic tannin, this fully mature St.-Emilion should be consumed over the next 2–3 years.

Medium-deep red. Supersweet aromas of liqueur-like red fruits, with incipient notes of maderization. Concentrated on the front half, then a bit edgy and sour on the back. Finishes with substantial, granular tannins. Past its best and beginning to decline.

Jean-Marc Quarin

Jean-Marc Quarin

Deep dark red color. Good intensity. Evolved. Hazy. Nose of medium intensity. Fruity. Notes of coffee and caramel. Fairly fresh. Green note on swirling. Round right away, the palate evolves smoothly and gracefully on a medium body. Slow development into a flavorful finish, ending slightly mineral and chalky. An interesting wine.
