Château Tertre Roteboeuf 1985

Almost Burgundian in its display of red currants, black cherries, fig, herb, and flowers, this medium-bodied, very juicy, beautifully knit wine is pure charm and seduction. The acidity is low, the tannin ripe and unobtrusive, and the wine fully mature. Drink it over the next 5–6 years. Last tasted, 12/02.

Focused and flavorful, with lots of fruit and the structure to hold it. Cedar, anise, plum and black cherry flavors are accompanied by full, chewy tannins, firm acidity and a long-lasting finish.

All earth and tobacco, with rustic textures and only a minimal amount of fruit remaining. This has probably been past its prime for over a decade.

98: Magnum: brightening color, but few signs of evolution. A nicely spicy bouquet, almost reminiscent of a Pomerol, with emerging chocolate and Merlot notes. On the palate, fleshy; not very charming, but with character. Has improved since the first notes. 16/20 drink – 2005

Sweet, spicy, dense, complex bouquet with raisins, chocolate and bouillon. Dense, multi‑layered, elegant, delicate, silky palate with a tight structure, fine tannins and playful fruit. Very long, refined finish. 18/20 drink - 2010

Dark red color. Medium to good intensity. Evolved. Nose of medium intensity. Fruity. Coffee. Spices. Notes of cedar and wood. Fairly animal on swirling. Fat and soft entry on the palate, unfolding on a smooth, rounded structure. Fairly rich mid-palate. Slow, flavorful, and rather complex evolution, where spice, cedar, ripe fruit, and wood mingle. Long, slightly mineral persistence. Very good in its powerful yet still rustic style.
