Château Tertre Roteboeuf 1991

92: violet-purple. Violet nose; direct, straightforward, dark roasted note, subdued cedar. Fine, very elegant palate flow, nicely balanced. A gastronomic wine, in the style of an ’87. 15/20 1995–2000

Buttery, fragrant, full bouquet with herbs and eucalyptus. Dense, full palate with good tannins. Long finish. 17/20 to drink - 2008

Dark red color. Medium intensity. Evolved. Nose of medium intensity. Hints of caramel and vanilla. Creamy note. Soft attack. Rounded, light yet pleasant structure. Medium persistence with notable licorice and a touch of wood.

Ironically, the 1991 reveals more depth, ripeness, and fruit than the excessively woody, diluted, light-bodied 1992. If you are contemplating buying either wine, the soft, berry, oaky, medium-bodied 1991 will provide pleasant drinking for 4–5 years.
