Alluring, with a mix of red and black tea flavors leading the way for very seductive cassis, blackberry purée and boysenberry reduction notes. The incense-lined finish has a nice fine-grained feel throughout. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2023 through 2036. 1,600 cases made.

Medium intensity ruby colour, rich in texture with both tight black fruits and clear notes of toffee and black truffle. It shuts down pretty quickly and there is clear tannic grip and traces of heat on the finish. Ambitious and confident, sure to age well. |A consistent Pomerol estate from Hélène Garcin-Leveque of Barde-Haut in St Emilion that is farmed organically.

A delicious, fine-grained red with berry, chocolate, wet-earth and walnut aromas and flavors. Medium body with juicy, burnt-orange undertones. Very tight at the end with energy and structure. Very polished. Try after 2025.

The 2019 Clos l'Eglise is beautifully layered and complete. Scents of dark cherry, plum, chocolate and licorice all build effortlessly. This mid-weight yet potent Pomerol is nuanced and super-expressive, with gorgeous silkiness on the long finish to keep things in balance. It is a terrific effort from Hélène Garcin-Lévêque and Patrice Lévêque.

Rich, lush, opulent and polished, the wine is full-bodied, concentrated and packed with perfectly ripe, dark plums, black cherries, coffee beans, truffle, licorice and very dark chocolate. But it is on the palate where the wine starts to sing due to all of its layers of sexy, supple-textured fruits. The finish packs a punch with its chocolate-covered, dark red pit fruits and espresso. The finish is fresh, pure, long and rich. Drink from 2025-2047.

Kunz Fassprobe 2020: a finely opulent, powerful, sweet bouquet with blackberry jelly, chocolate cream, a subtle hint of graphite, and licorice. The palate is densely knit, creamy and full-bodied, with rich, sweet fruit, a beautifully generous structure, plenty of fine tannin, layered aromatics, and a long, velvety finish.

Finely concentrated, complex, mineral bouquet: blueberry jelly, strawberries, pralines, nougat, light tobacco, slate, delicate dried-fruit notes. The 2019 Clos L'Eglise is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it comes bounding out with exuberant notes of plum pudding, fruitcake, and Chinese five spice, leading to suggestions of sandalwood and fallen leaves. The medium to full-bodied palate is juicy, spicy, and nicely balanced, delivering a frame of plush tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long and spicy.

[ 2019 En Primeur Notes: 94-95 ] Well-shaped substance woven through a suitably coated body. The velvety, slightly juicy texture adds to the charm of the cru. Eloquent, fresh finish.

A melancholic nose of Indian summer, with fully ripe fruit, still-warm strawberry jam, and even an early autumn rose. On the palate, the wine is dark and silent: an invitation to contemplation.

Soils composed of clay and crasse de fer. Domaine de l’Eglise reveals itself slowly, first showing chalky nuances along with notes of licorice. It confirms the freshness already displayed during the en primeur tastings, with hints of garrigue and black berries. This is a refined wine with firm yet perfectly integrated tannins. It combines charm and character well. Long, persistent finish.
