Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Meursault Village "Clos du Murger" 2023 Domaine Albert Grivault

Tasting

Colour
The colour reveals a pale yellow to golden yellow hue, reminiscent of straw.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with a pronounced minerality, accompanied by fresh citrus notes and a hint of greenness. Whiffs of delicately toasted dried fruits, warm brioche and iodised notes complete this profile.

Palate
The palate offers a lively and taut structure, carried by well-integrated acidity. The finish lingers on subtle saline bitterness that brings lovely persistence.

Food and Wine Pairing

This white wine pairs harmoniously with seafood, oysters and white-fleshed fish such as turbot or sole. It also goes very well with creamy preparations, pan-seared scallops, roasted poultry, as well as cheeses such as young goat cheese or aged Comté.

Service and Storage

For optimal enjoyment of the Meursault Village "Clos du Murger" 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 12°C. This wine can be cellared and will evolve favourably until around 2035.

The Mineral Expression of a White Wine from Meursault

The Estate

Founded in 1879, Domaine Albert Grivault is a historic figure of Burgundy, located in France at the heart of the Côte de Beaune. This family estate tends a vineyard of six hectares. Today, the estate is run by Claire Bardet, who represents the fifth generation, supported by Henri Marc as technical director and Michel Bardet. The estate is particularly recognised for its terroir-respectful approach and its careful winemaking methods, producing white wines that are highly representative of their appellation.

The Vineyard

The plot from which this wine originates covers approximately 2.58 hectares within the village of Meursault itself. Entirely enclosed by stone walls, this vineyard benefits from a protective microclimate. The vines grow on soils composed of hard limestone, enriched with sand and silt, typical of this geographical area. The south and southeast-facing exposure encourages steady ripening of the berries.

The Vintage

The year 2023 began with a mild winter, followed by a spring with unstable conditions. The summer season was marked by an alternation of heat peaks, cooler spells and stormy showers. August saw some rainfall which allowed the berries to continue ripening steadily, resulting in a generous harvest under warm and sunny conditions.

Winemaking and Aging

The production of the Meursault Village "Clos du Murger" 2023 relies on a minimally interventionist approach. Fermentation and aging take place in oak barrels for approximately eleven months. To preserve the finesse of the aromas, the proportion of new barrels is kept below 10%. Furthermore, lees stirring is strictly avoided in order to encourage a reductive profile and protect the fruit.
