Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Beaux Monts" 2024 from Domaine des Lambrays
Serving and cellaring
For its red wines, the estate recommends a serving temperature of 16 to 17°C, along with opening the bottle three hours before tasting, without decanting and without recorking after opening.
The excellence of a Vosne-Romanée terroir by Domaine des Lambrays
The estate
Located in Burgundy, Domaine des Lambrays was established in its current form in 1868, although its winemaking origins date back to 1365. Owned by the LVMH group since 2014, the estate is today led by Jacques Devauges. It notably extends over the renowned Grand Cru Clos des Lambrays (8.66 hectares) and has been enriched with new plots, further cementing the brand's reputation. Committed to highly precise viticulture, the estate is certified organic and is continuing its conversion to biodynamic farming, producing wines of exceptional elegance.
The vineyard
The 0.45-hectare micro-plot cultivated by the estate is located in the "Beaux Monts Hauts" lieu-dit, on the upper part of the Les Beaux Monts climat (11.64 hectares in total), north of Vosne-Romanée towards Clos de Vougeot. This clay-limestone terroir benefits from a highly precise plot-by-plot approach. The vineyard stands out for the age of its vines: half are 60 years old, lending depth and concentration, while the other half are 30 years old. The entire vineyard is farmed according to organic principles.
Winemaking and aging
The estate relies on modern facilities enabling entirely gravity-based work to preserve the integrity of the grapes. The house philosophy favors the use of indigenous yeasts, a portion of whole-cluster fermentation, and careful aging in oak barrels to enhance the expression of the terroir.
