Palate
Elegant and perfectly balanced, the palate offers a light to medium body supported by silky, refined tannins. Lovely vivacity brings freshness, highlighting ripe red fruit flavours and a mineral backbone, before finishing on a note that will gain in depth over time.

Food and wine pairing

This versatile red wine pairs wonderfully with roasted poultry, such as chicken or guinea fowl served with autumn vegetables. It also enhances lean red meats like veal chop with mushrooms, wild mushroom risotto, or grilled oily fish such as salmon. On the cheese side, soft cheeses like brie or aged cheeses like comté make excellent choices.

Service and storage

The Estate

Founded in July 2009 in France by Sophie and Fabrice Laronze, Domaine des Terres de Velle is located in Auxey-Duresses, in the heart of Burgundy. The estate quickly distinguished itself through its environmentally conscious approach. The vineyard spans 7.16 hectares across prestigious appellations. Since July 2023, the property has belonged to the Solexia group, led by Hervé Kratiroff and Eric Versini. Technical management is now overseen by winemaker Pierre Vincent, ensuring continuity in the excellence and precision of the wines.

The Vineyard

This wine from Bourgogne comes from three distinct plots: Champ l'Huillier in Corpeau, Monpoulain in Volnay, and Les Grands Clous Perrons in Meursault. The vines, grown from massale selection, have an average age of over fifty years, with the oldest dating back to 1951. They flourish on deep soils composed of clay and limestone. The vineyard is farmed without herbicides or insecticides, favouring mechanical soil work and natural treatments to preserve the plant's balance.

The Vintage

2022 stands out for its particularly warm, dry and sunny weather conditions. After a mild winter and a late budbreak at the end of March, a frost episode in early April caused only limited damage. Spring and summer were marked by heat and drought, but timely rains at the end of June and in August allowed the vines to rehydrate. These well-timed rainfalls promoted optimal ripening, resulting in healthy, concentrated grapes with lovely freshness at harvest in early September.

Winemaking and Ageing

The production of the 2022 Bourgogne Côte d'Or "Pinot Noir" follows a philosophy of minimal intervention. After a short cold pre-fermentation maceration, fermentation begins with indigenous yeasts and lasts two to three weeks with gentle extractions. The wine is then aged for two winters in French oak barrels aged five to seven years, to preserve the brightness of the fruit. Bottling is carried out without filtration, following the lunar calendar to ensure the wine's natural stability.
