The Authentic Expression of a Pommard Terroir by Domaine du Château de Meursault

The Estate

Located in Burgundy, Domaine du Château de Meursault traces its origins back to the eleventh century. This historic estate has undergone a true qualitative renaissance since its acquisition at the end of 2012 by the Halley family, led by Olivier Halley. Spanning 65 hectares, the estate stands out for its strong environmental commitment, with its entire vineyard certified organic since 2022, and for developing innovative ecological restoration projects to preserve biodiversity.

The Vineyard

This Pommard wine comes from the historic climat Les Petits Noizons, located on the heights of the village. Covering 1.05 hectares spread across two plots, this terroir benefits from an ideal south-facing exposure for grape ripening. The vines flourish on brown clay-limestone soils resting on ancient alluvial deposits, providing excellent natural drainage and giving the wine its characteristic minerality.

The Vintage

The year 2022 was marked by a particularly hot and dry summer. However, welcome rainfall in June helped replenish the soil's water reserves. This water protected the vines from water stress while ensuring excellent sanitary conditions, thus promoting optimal berry concentration at harvest.

Winemaking and Aging

To craft the Pommard Village "Les Petits Noizons" 2022, the hand-harvested grapes undergo a rigorous double sorting, both manual and optical. After complete destemming, a cold pre-fermentation maceration of fifteen to eighteen days takes place, followed by alcoholic fermentation punctuated by punching down and pumping over. The wine is then aged for fifteen to seventeen months in French oak barrels, 35% of which are new, refining its structure while preserving the brightness of the fruit.
