The estate
Founded in the eleventh century, the Domaine du Château de Meursault stands as a historic and unmissable figure in Burgundy. Located at the heart of the Côte de Beaune, in France, the estate oversees an exceptional sixty-hectare vineyard spread across prestigious terroirs. Since 2012, the domaine has been led by the Halley family, with Olivier Halley at the helm, supported by Stéphane Follin-Arbelet as general manager. Deeply committed to environmental preservation, the domaine has achieved Level 3 High Environmental Value certification, reflecting its constant pursuit of excellence and authenticity.
The vineyard
The plots dedicated to the Savigny-Les-Beaune appellation enjoy a privileged east and south-east facing exposure, at altitudes ranging between 250 and 280 metres. The terroir of this appellation, crossed by the Rhoin stream, stands out for its remarkable geological diversity. Depending on the slopes, the vines flourish on iron-rich gravelly soils, reddish-brown limestone soils mixed with clay, or sandier areas. The domaine promotes biodiversity and soil health by shredding vine cuttings and creating ecological corridors.
The vintage
2022 stood out for its particularly favourable weather conditions in Burgundy. The harvest, which took place from 25 August to 16 September, yielded grapes in excellent health. This generous vintage delivered optimal ripeness depending on exposure, resulting in perfectly balanced wines with fine acidity.
Winemaking and ageing
The Savigny-Les-Beaune Village 2022 is crafted in modern facilities that favour gravity flow to preserve the quality of the grapes. The wine is then carefully aged in oak barrels for a period of twelve to eighteen months. The use of wood is carefully measured to enhance the wine's characteristics without ever masking the authentic expression of its terroir.
