Domaine du Pas de l'Escalette : Le Grand Pas 2022

Le Grand Pas 2022 once again offers its quiet strength. It has depth, but also that plump character, creaminess, serene charm, enveloping tannins, a full and juicy fruit profile, and a lovely spicy touch. Very long finish and plenty of complexity.

Medium ruby in color and still very young, the 2022 Terrasses Du Larzac Le Grand Pas is only at the beginning of its journey and would benefit from two more years in the cellar before opening. A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Cinsault, and 10% Carignan, 50% of which was vinified as whole clusters, this red was aged for 18 to 24 months in barrels. On the palate, it boasts plenty of substance, melt-in-the-mouth freshness, and dense, velvety tannins, over which notes of incense, blackberry, blueberry, blood orange, and tobacco emerge, ending with a fairly long, slightly minty finish. Definitely one to decant. Drink 2027-2035.

Olives, cherries, cracked pepper, cloves and roasted walnuts on the nose of this full-bodied red. It’s spicy and dark-fruited, with lightly grainy, chewy tannins. From organically grown grapes. Try from 2026.
