Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Porêts Saint-Georges" 2022
Tasting
Colour
This red wine from France reveals a deep, brilliant ruby hue, reflecting excellent concentration.
Nose
Powerful and wonderfully complex, the aromatic bouquet exudes ripe fruit aromas such as cherry, blackberry and boysenberry. The whole is enhanced by warm notes of sweet spices, sandalwood and a subtle hint of iron.
Palate
The attack is clean, smooth and highly elegant. The mid-palate reveals perfect balance, supported by rich, silky tannins that give the wine structure without masking the brilliance of the fruit. Beautiful acidity brings freshness to this cuvée, which combines power and refinement.
Food and Wine Pairing
This cuvée pairs beautifully with roasted or braised meats such as haunch of venison, duck confit or beef braised in wine. It also enhances mushroom-based dishes, a traditional coq au vin, roasted poultry, as well as aged cheeses such as Comté or Gruyère.
Service and Storage
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to open the bottle 30 to 60 minutes before serving and to serve it at a temperature between 15 and 18°C. Decanting is recommended for bottles that have aged. This Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Porêts Saint-Georges" 2022 offers exceptional aging potential and can be cellared until around 2040.
Other Characteristics
This wine has an alcohol content of 14%.
The Elegance and Depth of a Great Burgundy Wine by Domaine Faiveley
The Estate
Founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley, Domaine Faiveley is a true institution in Burgundy. Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the estate now spans more than 120 hectares across the region's most prestigious terroirs. Currently led by the seventh generation, embodied by Erwan and Eve Faiveley, the estate combines respect for tradition with a modern vision of winegrowing. A committed advocate for the environment, the estate celebrated its bicentenary in 2025 by achieving organic certification for its entire vineyard.
The Vineyard
The historic Climat from which this wine originates is located in the southern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. Owned by the family since the 1830s, this plot benefits from an east-facing exposure and rests on deep soils composed of brown limestone and gravel. The vines, grown from massale selection, receive meticulous care throughout the year, and the harvest is carried out by hand.
The Vintage
The year 2022 stood out for its particularly hot and sunny weather conditions. Timely rainfall at the end of June and in mid-August, combined with cool summer nights, allowed the berries to ripen gradually. The harvest, which began at the end of August, produced grapes of remarkable quality, combining optimal ripeness with lovely freshness.
Winemaking and Aging
The winemaking process for the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Porêts Saint-Georges" 2022 begins with fermentation in temperature-controlled wooden vats, using indigenous yeasts, with a variable proportion of whole clusters. Transfers are carried out by gravity to preserve the wine's delicacy. Malolactic fermentation and aging take place in French oak barrels (40 to 50% new oak) for 16 months. The wine undergoes very light filtration before bottling.
Grape Variety
100% Pinot Noir.
