The purity and elegance of a white wine from the Mâconnais
The estate
Located in the south of Burgundy, Domaine Merlin was officially founded on 1 January 1987 by Olivier and Corinne Merlin. Still the current owners of the estate, they are today joined by the new generation. Established in the Mâconnais, this family estate stands out for its philosophy built on four pillars: balance, purity, depth and harmony. Convinced of the potential of its region, the estate favours sustainable farming practices, rigorous massale selection and deep respect for the terroir in order to produce wines of great authenticity.
The vineyard
This wine comes from the Mâcon-La Roche-Vineuse appellation, a terroir renowned for its stony, limestone-rich soils. This cuvée is produced from old-vine plots, whose advanced age allows for greater aromatic concentration and deeper rooting. The vineyard is tended with extreme care, favouring manual work with individual hoeing of each vine and the use of organic fertilisers to stimulate the biological life of the soils.
Winemaking and ageing
For the production of the Mâcon La Roche Vineuse "Vieilles Vignes" 2022, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand, picked into small wooden crates to preserve the berries. In the cellar, the philosophy of minimal intervention translates into a long, gentle whole-bunch pressing. Fermentation and ageing then take place in oak barrels, lending subtle complexity while preserving the unique identity of the plot.
