Description

A red wine true to the richness of its Pommard terroir

The estate

Located in the heart of Meursault, in Burgundy, Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils carries on a family tradition spanning seven generations. The estate's modern structure took shape in the 1970s under the impetus of Michel Bouzereau, who initiated estate bottling. Since 1999, his son Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau has managed the 12.5-hectare property with a meticulous approach that respects the terroir. Renowned for its great white wines, the estate also passionately cultivates plots of red grapes, offering confidential and authentic cuvées.

The vineyard

This cuvée comes from the climat "La Croix Blanche", located within the Pommard appellation, in France. This distinctive terroir lies along a major geological fault, offering a mosaic of Chassagne and Comblanchien limestone as well as marl. The clay-limestone soils, shallow and rich in iron oxides, give the earth its characteristic red hue. The vines, averaging 35 years of age, are cultivated using methods inspired by biodynamics. The estate favours massale selection and regular ploughing, and has completely banned chemical herbicides since 2005 to preserve the vitality of this exceptional terroir.

Winemaking and aging

The making of the 2024 Pommard Village "La Croix Blanche" begins with an entirely hand-picked harvest, ensuring a rigorous selection of the finest bunches. In the cellar, the estate favours a minimal-intervention approach to let the purity of the fruit shine through. The wine is then carefully aged in oak barrels for 12 to 18 months before bottling, a method that refines its structure while respecting the identity of its terroir.

Grape variety

The 2024 Pommard Village "La Croix Blanche" from Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils is made from 100% Pinot Noir.
