Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Ladoix 1er Cru "La Corvée" 2023 from Domaine Parent
Tasting
Appearance
This wine reveals a beautiful red hue, a testament to its Burgundian identity.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet gradually opens up with notes of small red and black fruits, interwoven with hints of dried herbs, potpourri and rose petals. A chalky minerality, evoking gun flint, adds further complexity to the whole.
Palate
Ample and generous, the palate offers a beautiful concentration around flavours of black cherry compote. The tannins are fleshy and velvety, giving this wine a reassuring power and an elegant texture.
Food and wine pairings
This red wine pairs ideally with poultry in cream sauce, such as Bresse chicken, or feathered game such as duck. It also matches beautifully with delicate red meats such as veal or lamb, rabbit with Mediterranean herbs, as well as creamy Burgundian cheeses such as Époisses.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this Ladoix 1er Cru "La Corvée" 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 14 and 16°C. It can rest in the cellar and will be ideal to enjoy from 2026 through to around 2036.
The authentic expression of the Burgundian terroir of Ladoix by Domaine Parent
The estate
Founded in 1803 by Claude Parent in Pommard, Domaine Parent is a historic figure in Burgundy. Drawing on a family heritage spanning several centuries, the 10-hectare vineyard is now run by two sisters, Anne and Catherine Parent. Anne oversees the technical side with an environmentally respectful approach, while Catherine manages commercial development. Certified organic since 2013, the estate is committed to producing wines that faithfully reflect the complexity of their terroirs, combining age-old traditions with biodynamic practices.
The vineyard
The "La Corvée" climat is a Premier Cru-classified terroir located in the Ladoix appellation, the northern gateway to the Côte de Beaune. The vines thrive under a continental climate, on hillsides facing east and south. The soils of this sector, limestone and reddish-brown in nature, are rich in rocky debris, offering ideal conditions for vine growing. The estate favours respectful soil work, notably using animal traction to preserve the structure of the earth.
The vintage
The 2023 vintage in Burgundy stands out for climatic conditions that fostered a generous and accessible profile. This growing cycle enabled optimal phenolic ripeness to be reached at harvest, delivering healthy and balanced grapes.
Vinification and ageing
After manual harvesting, the grapes destined for the Ladoix 1er Cru "La Corvée" 2023 undergo a rigorous double sorting. Vinification begins with a cold maceration, followed by fermentation with indigenous yeasts under strict temperature control. Punching down and pumping over are carried out to extract the material gently. The wine is then transferred by gravity into French oak barrels (of which 25 to 40% are new) for its ageing. Bottling is carried out following the lunar calendar, with light filtration if necessary.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
