Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Chassagne-Montrachet Village 2022 from Domaine Ramonet
Tasting
Nose
Particularly seductive and elegant, the aromatic bouquet unveils lovely notes of red fruits such as cherry and raspberry, harmoniously interwoven with floral touches of violet. Subtle spicy, earthy and mineral nuances round off the whole.
Palate
Medium-bodied, the palate offers beautiful concentration along with a remarkable structure. It unfolds savoury layers of red fruits and spices, perfectly supported by tannins of great finesse. The experience concludes on a lingering finish, revealing an ideal balance between the generosity of the fruit and a deep mineral complexity.
Food and wine pairings
This red wine will pair wonderfully with delicate meats and poultry. It will particularly enhance a fillet of veal served with chanterelles, a roasted pigeon or a duck breast with cherries.
Serving and cellaring
This Chassagne-Montrachet 2022 can be enjoyed right now, but it also possesses a fine ageing potential, allowing it to rest in the cellar until around 2030.

The estate
The history of Domaine Ramonet began in the late 1920s, before its official founding in 1930 by Pierre Ramonet. Located in the heart of Burgundy, this family estate is today renowned worldwide for the quality of its cuvées. The vineyard extends over nearly 20 hectares, spread across prestigious terroirs. Jean-Claude Ramonet is currently at the helm of the estate, supported by his daughters Anne-France and Clarisse. Together, they carry on an ancestral expertise, combining controlled yields with respect for the soils, to produce wines of great precision.
The vineyard
This Chassagne-Montrachet wine comes from a set of plots spanning 1.88 hectares. The vines benefit from an ideal south-easterly exposure and thrive on a mosaic of soils composed of stones, limestone, marl and sand. The estate favours sustainable viticulture, with meticulous soil work to preserve biodiversity, as well as a rigorous selection of old vines to ensure the concentration and authenticity of the grapes.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage stands out as a particularly generous and high-quality year. Marked by an early growing cycle, this year benefited from sunny yet perfectly balanced climatic conditions. This clement weather allowed the berries to reach optimal ripeness while retaining excellent sanitary condition and a lovely natural freshness.
Winemaking and ageing
The harvest is carried out by hand, followed by rigorous sorting. The fermentation of this Chassagne-Montrachet 2022 takes place in open vats through the action of indigenous yeasts. Extraction is conducted gently, with measured punch-downs and pump-overs to preserve the delicacy of the fruit. Finally, the wine is aged for 14 to 16 months in French oak barrels, with a very low proportion of new wood, so as not to mask the identity of the terroir.
