Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for Amphibolite 2025 by Jo Landron

Tasting

Appearance
This white wine displays a brilliant straw-yellow colour, subtly shot through with delicate green highlights that bear witness to its great freshness.

Nose
Beautifully luminous, the aromatic bouquet reveals a vibrant expression driven by citrus scents such as lemon and grapefruit, closely intertwined with notes of white flowers like acacia and hawthorn. Subtle mineral and iodine touches, reminiscent of wet stone, complete this remarkably precise ensemble.

Palate
The attack is clean and lively, introducing a taut, dynamic texture. The mid-palate reveals a slightly silky texture from lees ageing, while retaining a straight, mineral backbone. The long finish lingers on refreshing saline and lemony notes.

Food and wine pairings

Perfectly suited to aperitifs, this wine pairs beautifully with oysters and generous seafood platters. It will also enhance poached or grilled white fish, ceviches, tartares and summer salads.

Serving and cellaring

Designed to be enjoyed in the brilliance of its youth, Amphibolite 2025 should be drunk until around 2028.

The pure, saline expression of a terroir-driven Muscadet by Jo Landron

The estate

The story of Domaines Landron began around 1945, when the family turned a small farm into a wine estate in the Loire Valley. Now at the helm of the property, Jo Landron, who joined the estate in 1979, oversees a vineyard of around 48 hectares in La Haye-Fouassière. A leading figure in the region, he banned chemical weedkillers as early as 1987. A true pioneer, the estate has been certified organic since 2002 and biodynamic since 2011, reflecting a deep commitment to respecting the living world and to the authentic expression of its terroirs.

The vineyard

Located in the heart of the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation, the vines dedicated to this cuvée are 35 to 40 years old. They thrive on a distinctive terroir composed exclusively of amphibolite, a green metamorphic rock derived from gabbro. This hard, compact, well-drained soil, farmed according to the demanding principles of biodynamics with mechanical tillage, encourages deep rooting and controlled yields, giving the wine its highly distinctive mineral signature.

The vintage

2025 was marked by generous, sunny weather conditions, allowing the berries to reach optimal ripeness and develop a denser, richer texture than usual.

Vinification and ageing

The grapes for Amphibolite 2025 are harvested by hand as whole bunches. In the cellar, gentle direct pneumatic pressing is carried out without prior settling. Alcoholic fermentation begins spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in glass-lined concrete tanks. To preserve its vibrant freshness, malolactic fermentation is avoided. The wine is then aged on fine lees for six months in the same tanks, before being bottled by gravity, usually without filtration.

Grape variety

This wine is made exclusively from 100% Melon de Bourgogne.
