Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Couchereaux" Héritiers Louis Jadot 2024
Tasting
Appearance
The wine displays an intense, deep ruby-red colour.
Nose
The bouquet reveals great aromatic power, dominated by notes of ripe red fruits such as cherry and raspberry. Subtle spicy touches and delicately integrated oak enrich this palette.
Palate
On the palate, this wine is full-bodied and beautifully structured. The tannins are supple and elegant, leading to a persistent, harmonious finish.
Food and Wine Pairing
This red wine pairs wonderfully with a wide variety of meats, whether roasted or served in a sauce. It will be a superb match for beef, veal, lamb or even marinated game. It is also ideal alongside a cheese platter of soft-rind or washed-rind cheeses.
Serving and Cellaring
For optimal enjoyment, we recommend serving this wine at a temperature between 16 and 17°C, opening it about one hour before serving. With excellent ageing potential, this vintage can be cellared for many years.
The Power and Elegance of a Beaune Premier Cru by Louis Jadot
The Estate
Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Louis Jadot is an essential institution in Burgundy, historically rooted in the heart of Beaune. Owned by the Kopf family since 1985, the estate is now chaired by Thomas Seiter. With a vast vineyard holding, the estate stands out for its strong environmental commitment. Recognisable by its emblematic label adorned with the head of Bacchus, the house perpetuates a unique savoir-faire.
The Vineyard
This climat, farmed by Héritiers Louis Jadot, lies on the heights of the commune of Beaune. Facing due south, the vines enjoy ideal sunshine. They thrive on particularly well-drained clay-limestone soils, covered with a surface layer of alluvium. This hillside terroir promotes optimal ripening of the grapes while preserving beautiful freshness.
Winemaking and Ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand. After rigorous sorting and destemming, the berries undergo a long maceration in open vats, punctuated by punch-downs, with fermentation using indigenous yeasts. The wine is then carefully aged in oak barrels.
Grape Variety
Pinot Noir (100%).
