Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Beaune 1er Cru "Aux Cras" 2024 Louis Latour

Tasting

Colour
This wine reveals a pale golden hue, enhanced by luminous highlights that reflect the chalky influence of its terroir.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals indulgent notes of vanilla and almond paste. It is further enriched with scents of dried fruits, white flowers, honey and buttery touches, all lifted by subtle spicy nuances reminiscent of cinnamon.

Palate
The attack offers a lovely freshness, supported by a pleasant acidity. The palate unfolds with aromas of yellow fruits and fresh almond, stretching out at length before ending on an elegant finish. The whole shines through its harmonious balance.

Food and Wine Pairing
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with sweet-and-savoury dishes, fish or seafood. It also beautifully accompanies white meats in sauce, delicate poultry, as well as regional matured cheeses such as Soumaintrain or Époisses.

Service and Storage
To fully appreciate the Beaune 1er Cru "Aux Cras" 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 12 and 14 °C. With fine ageing potential, this wine can be cellared and enjoyed until around 2031.

The Elegance of a Great Chardonnay from Beaune by Maison Louis Latour

The Estate
Officially founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour is a true institution in Burgundy. Historically established in Aloxe-Corton, the estate spans 48 hectares, of which 27 hectares are classified as Grand Cru, making it the largest estate of this rank in the region. Today, Florent Latour heads the family business as Managing Director, supported by Éléonore Latour. A staunch advocate of sustainable viticulture, the estate is also distinguished by its own cooperage. This complete mastery of the production process contributes to the worldwide renown of this iconic brand, celebrated for the excellence of its wines.

The Vineyard
The terroir from which this wine originates lies at the top of the slope overlooking the town of Beaune. Established on a former quarry, the clay-limestone soil is extremely stony. The vineyard is organised across three terraces supported by stone walls that reflect the sunlight, encouraging early ripening of the grapes. The vines, around 20 years old, are hand-harvested and yield an average of 40 hl/ha.

The Vintage
The year 2024 was marked by particularly low yields in Burgundy. Volumes harvested during this vintage were roughly a third lower than the previous year, resulting in a rare production and very limited quantities for this vintage.

Winemaking and Aging
The making of the Beaune 1er Cru "Aux Cras" 2024 begins with traditional fermentation in oak barrels, accompanied by malolactic fermentation carried out at 100%. The wine is then aged for a period of 8 to 10 months. This process takes place in medium-toast French oak barrels, crafted by the estate's own cooperage, with 50% new barrels.
