The Elegance of a Great Pinot Noir from Chassagne-Montrachet by Louis Latour

The Estate

Officially founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour is a true institution in Burgundy. Although the family's winemaking history began in 1731, it is this founding date that marks the starting point of its renown. Now led by Florent Latour, the estate spans 48 hectares, making it the largest Grand Cru estate in the Côte d'Or. Staying true to its family values and independence, this prestigious house combines respect for tradition with sustainable viticulture to showcase the finest Burgundian terroirs.

The Vineyard

The terroir of the Morgeot hamlet, located at the heart of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation, benefits from a south-east-facing mid-slope exposure. The vines, averaging 30 years old, thrive on complex clay-limestone soils. The estate practices ISO14001-certified sustainable farming, limiting yields to 40 hl/ha to concentrate the aromas. Harvesting is carried out by hand to preserve the integrity of the grape clusters.

Winemaking and Aging

The making of the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Morgeot" 2024 relies on traditional methods. Fermentation takes place in open vats with indigenous yeasts, accompanied by regular manual punching-down and a short maceration period to gently extract the tannins. After complete malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 10 to 12 months in medium-toast French oak barrels, 35% of which are new, all crafted by the house's own cooperage.
