The estate
Founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour remains an independent family business based in Aloxe-Corton, in Burgundy. It farms around 50 hectares of vines, including nearly 29 hectares of Grands Crus, making it the largest owner of Grand Cru plots in the Côte d'Or. A pioneer in replanting after phylloxera, the Maison upholds traditional Burgundian expertise.
The vineyard
The Charmes climat lies to the south of the village of Meursault. Its well-drained soils of marl and limestone are particularly well suited to Chardonnay. These mineral terroirs produce opulent wines with notes of ripe peach, apple and hazelnut. The vines for this Meursault 1er cru "Charmes" have an average age of 35 years. Yields are kept to 40 hectolitres per hectare, and the grapes are harvested by hand.
Winemaking and ageing
The Meursault 1er cru "Charmes" 2023 is vinified traditionally in oak barrels. The wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation. It is then aged for 8 to 10 months in medium-toast French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.
Grape variety
This Burgundy wine is made from 100% Chardonnay.
