A Vosne-Romanée combining power and finesse, the signature of Burgundy's Côte de Nuits
The estate
Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour, Maison Louis Latour remains a family-run benchmark in Burgundy and is currently headed by Florent Latour. Based in Aloxe-Corton, it farms 120 acres of vines, including nearly 70 acres of Grands Crus, making it the largest owner of Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy. The Maison distinguished itself through its pioneering role in planting Chardonnay in Corton-Charlemagne and by building France's first winery dedicated to winemaking in 1834.
The vineyard
The Vosne-Romanée terroir benefits from exceptional geography, climate and soils, yielding grapes of great finesse. The vines, which average 30 years of age, are rooted in a subsoil of iron-rich clay. Harvested by hand, they produce an average yield of 40 hectolitres per hectare. These conditions give rise to powerful wines that retain great finesse and a remarkable ageing potential, hallmarks of Burgundy's greatest crus.
The vintage
The 2023 vintage in Burgundy enjoyed favourable weather conditions, with a mild spring followed by a hot, dry summer, allowing the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. The harvest took place in excellent conditions, producing balanced and expressive wines.
Vinification and ageing
The Vosne-Romanée Village 2023 is vinified using a traditional method in open vats, followed by full malolactic fermentation. It is then aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, 20% of which are new with a medium toast, allowing the wine to develop its complexity while preserving the expression of the fruit.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
