A Saint-Joseph by M. Chapoutier with a Granitic Expression
The Estate
The history of the House of M. Chapoutier began in 1808 in Tain-l'Hermitage, in the Rhône Valley, under the name Calvet et Compagnie; it was in 1955 that Marc Chapoutier gave the family business the name it bears today. Run since 1990 by Michel Chapoutier, the seventh generation, alongside his children Mathilde and Maxime, the house has established itself as a benchmark in biodynamics, which it began implementing in 1991 and gradually extended across its terroirs.
The Vineyard
Granilites 2024 comes from Syrah parcels planted on granitic soils, more or less decomposed, in the Saint-Joseph appellation. The vineyard is farmed according to biodynamic principles.
Vinification and Ageing
The vinification of this cuvée combines hand harvesting, fermentation in concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts, followed by a maceration of about four weeks. Ageing then takes place in a combination of barrels and concrete tanks.
Grape Variety
This wine is made from 100% Syrah, the sole grape variety in this Saint-Joseph cuvée.
