The Elegance and Precision of a Red Burgundy Crafted by Vincent Girardin
The Estate
Founded in 1980 with just two hectares, Vincent Girardin is a leading name in Burgundy. Based in Meursault, it now manages around one hundred hectares, approximately 18 of which are owned. Since 2012, the estate has belonged to the Compagnie des Vins d'Autrefois, chaired by Jean-Pierre Nié. Stylistic continuity is ensured by technical director Éric Germain. The house stands out for its artisanal approach, described as "Très Haute Couture", combining deep respect for the terroir with sustainable and exacting viticultural practices.
The Vineyard
The grapes come from the prestigious Côte de Beaune. The vines thrive in predominantly clay-limestone soils, which give the red wines beautiful finesse and an elegant structure. True to a philosophy inspired by biodynamics, the estate follows strict sustainable farming principles: a complete ban on herbicides and insecticides, the use of natural local composts, and high trellising to optimise photosynthesis. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand to guarantee a meticulous selection of the finest bunches.
Vinification and Ageing
This 2024 Beaune is crafted according to a philosophy of minimal intervention in the cellar. After rigorous sorting, fermentation starts naturally with indigenous yeasts. Extraction is gentle in order to preserve the delicacy of the fruit and the authentic expression of the terroir. The use of oenological additives is drastically reduced. Ageing takes place in oak barrels with a moderate proportion of new wood, refining the tannic structure without masking the aromatic purity of the wine. Certain key stages also follow the lunar calendar.
