Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Meursault Village "Les Narvaux" 2024 by Vincent Girardin
Tasting
Appearance
This white wine reveals a bright straw-yellow colour, adorned with subtle golden highlights.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens on notes of citrus and stone fruits, such as white peach. It is then enriched with delicate touches of white flowers, butter, hazelnut and a minerality reminiscent of gun flint.
Palate
Ample and endowed with a beautiful silky texture, the palate is enlivened by a vibrant acidity. This Meursault offers a long, savoury and deeply mineral finish.
Food and wine pairings
This gastronomic wine pairs wonderfully with fine fish in sauce, shellfish such as scallops, or white meats with cream and mushrooms. It also elevates a risotto or matured cheeses such as Comté.
Serving and cellaring
Endowed with excellent ageing potential, the Meursault Village "Les Narvaux" 2024 can be enjoyed from its early years or kept in the cellar to be savoured until 2032 at the very least.
The precision and minerality of a white Burgundy wine crafted by Vincent Girardin
The estate
Founded in 1980 by Vincent Girardin from two hectares of vines, the eponymous House has become an essential benchmark in Burgundy. Sold in 2012 to the Compagnie des Vins d'Autrefois, it is now chaired by Mr Nié. Under the technical direction of Eric Germain, the team perpetuates a demanding philosophy focused on the pure expression of terroirs. The estate stands out for its haute couture approach to winegrowing, working prestigious plots on the Côte de Beaune to produce wines of great precision.
The vineyard
From the Meursault appellation, the Climat "Les Narvaux" is located at the top of the slope, overlooking the premiers crus. The vines, around forty years old, thrive on lean soils composed of limestone, clay and gypsum. The vineyard is managed according to strict, natural principles, without any herbicides or insecticides, favouring deep ploughing and the use of natural composts to encourage deep rooting.
The vintage
The 2024 year proved particularly demanding, marked by constant climatic pressure requiring unwavering vigilance in the vines. Despite these weather-related challenges, this vintage is a true success for the region's white wines, which stand out for their balance, intensity and great precision.
Vinification and ageing
The harvest is entirely manual. In the cellar, the fermentation of the Meursault Village "Les Narvaux" 2024 takes place slowly thanks to indigenous yeasts, without any addition of enzymes or chaptalisation. Ageing continues on fine lees for approximately sixteen months in oak barrels, with a measured proportion of 15% new wood. All the stages follow the lunar calendar in order to preserve the energy and purity of the terroir.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
