Viñedos Hermanos Hernáiz : Finca la Empératriz Viñedo Singular Blanco 2019

The balsamic white 2019 Finca la Emperatriz Blanco is pure Viura from vines that are in the process of obtaining organic certification (expected in 2023) and located at 570 meters of altitude on sand and gravel soils. It fermented in equal parts in concrete and oak (225- and 500-liter barrels) and then matured in new and used barriques for eight months, followed by another nine months in concrete. It was bottled at 13.9% alcohol with a pH of 3.35 plus 6.2 grams of acidity (measured as tartaric acid). It shows notes of fennel and aniseed, spice and herbs, and is clean, nuanced and complex. It’s fresh and balanced, powerful and tasty. 14,386 bottles, 100 magnums and 105 double magnums produced. Bottled in April 2021.
