The Authentic Expression of the Nahe Terroir by Weingut Dönnhoff
The Estate
Located in Oberhausen an der Nahe, Weingut Dönnhoff is an emblematic family estate. Although the family's winemaking history dates back to the 18th century, the estate itself was truly founded in the 1920s under the impetus of Hermann Dönnhoff. Today, the property is run by Cornelius Dönnhoff, who perpetuates the excellence of this vineyard of approximately 28 hectares. Acclaimed worldwide, the estate stands out for its mastery of the great terroirs of the Nahe and its commitment to precision viticulture, producing wines of exceptional purity.
The Vineyard
The Roxheimer Höllenpfad site is a celebrated German vineyard with steep slopes and a due south exposure, nestled in a small side valley of the middle Nahe. This distinctive terroir rests on warm, weathered red sandstone soil interspersed with limestone and sandy elements. The vines, aged 10 to 40 years, are carefully tended to achieve a controlled yield of around 45 hl/ha. The grapes are harvested selectively, 100% by hand.
Vinification and Ageing
The production of the Riesling Roxheimer Höllenpfad Trocken 2025 combines tradition and modernity. Fermentation and maturation take place side by side in traditional wooden foudres and stainless steel tanks.
