The estate

Located in Mendoza, the Zuccardi estate is recognised as one of the producers of truly great Argentinian wines. Sebastián Zuccardi represents the third generation of winemakers at this family estate, whose story began in 1963 when his grandfather planted the first hectares of vines in Maipú. Since January 2000, Sebastián Zuccardi has been at the helm of a vineyard of more than 200 hectares at the foot of the Andes, whose wines reflect the richness of the Uco Valley's terroirs.

Hailing from a visionary, resolutely forward-looking family, Sebastián Zuccardi set up a research and development unit in 2008 dedicated to optimising vineyard practices. In 2016, he inaugurated a winery housing uniquely shaped vats and amphorae, the result of many years of research into handling the juice as naturally as possible while limiting human intervention, so as to preserve the character of each vineyard and enhance its expression during winemaking.

Recognised as one of the finest winemakers in South America, Sebastián Zuccardi produces wines adored by connoisseurs and lauded by critics.

Named Best Vineyard in South America in 2019 and 2020, the Zuccardi family estate was also voted the World's Best Vineyard in 2020.

The vineyard

Finca Canal Uco Malbec 2019 by Zuccardi is a Mendoza wine made from a selection of vineyards located at an altitude of 1,100 metres in the Paraje Altamira area. Depending on the plot, these Uco Valley terroirs lie on soils of granitic stone, sand and silt.

The vintage

Particularly favourable conditions in the run-up to the harvest, with cool temperatures, very low rainfall and significant diurnal temperature variations, made it possible to pick grapes of outstanding quality.

Winemaking and ageing

Harvested by hand, the grapes are rigorously sorted before being transferred to vats by gravity. Fermentation takes place in concrete vats with indigenous yeasts, followed by ageing in concrete vats.
