Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Vosne-Romanée Village Domaine Du Clos Frantin 2023 by Albert Bichot
Tasting
Nose
This wine reveals a refined and complex bouquet, dominated by aromas of red and black fruits such as morello cherry, raspberry and blackberry. Delicate toasted, smoky and spicy touches intertwine with notes of tea and tobacco, promising a superb evolution towards truffle scents over the years.
Palate
The attack is remarkably velvety, introducing a generous, rich and fleshy body. The tannins, although present and ensuring a beautiful volume, offer a silky touch that structures the whole with elegance. The tasting ends on a persistent and intensely aromatic finish.
Food and wine pairings
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with roasted meats or those slow-cooked in sauce. It will perfectly enhance a piece of beef, lamb, duck or game. When it comes to cheeses, favour medium-bodied varieties to respect the balance and finesse of the wine.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate all the complexity of the Vosne-Romanée Village Dom. Du Clos Frantin 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 15 and 16°C. Endowed with a beautiful structure, this great wine can wait in the cellar and be enjoyed until around 2030, or even beyond for lovers of tertiary aromas.
The Elegance of a Great Burgundy Terroir Crafted by Albert Bichot
The estate
Founded in 1831 in Monthélie, the Albert Bichot House is a historic and emblematic figure of Burgundy. Today led by Albéric Bichot, this independent family brand watches over a vast vineyard of more than 100 hectares spread across six exceptional estates. Strongly committed to an environmental approach, the property stands out for its sustainable viticulture and its numerous organic certifications. Combining respect for traditions with bold innovation, the estate strives to reveal the purity and singularity of each Burgundian terroir with great precision.
The vineyard
The grapes come from the Domaine du Clos Frantin, located in the heart of the prestigious Côte de Nuits. More specifically, the vines for this cuvée thrive on the Vosne-Romanée appellation, across two climats with complementary profiles named "Damaudes" and "Maizières". This terroir of just over one hectare rests on brown soils with a limestone dominance as well as clay marls. Cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, the vines have an average age of 35 to 40 years, ensuring a beautiful natural concentration in the berries.
Vinification and ageing
The making of the Vosne-Romanée Village Dom. Du Clos Frantin 2023 begins with entirely manual harvesting, followed by rigorous sorting of the bunches upon their arrival in the winery. In order to preserve the integrity of the fruit, transfers are carried out gently by gravity. Fermentation maceration then takes place in temperature-controlled wooden vats for a period of 18 to 21 days for a gentle extraction. Finally, the wine benefits from meticulous ageing in oak barrels for 14 to 16 months, with a proportion of new wood ranging from 25 to 35%.
