A beautiful reference of its appellation, the Second Wine of the Château d’Issan – the Blason d’Issan – offers a beautiful expression of Margaux.
At Château d'Issan, a magnificent property on the left bank of Bordeaux, 2018 will be remembered as a year marked by strong climatic contrasts. Following a rainy winter and spring, the beautiful summer months arrived, bringing radiant sunshine all the way up to the harvest date. The thermal amplitude between hot days and cool nights favoured the ripening of all grape varieties.
At Château d'Issan, the grape harvest began on September 24 with the Merlot and ended on October 11 with the Cabernet, yielding small fruit with thick skins and silky tannins. The "haute-couture" vinification was carried out with the greatest respect for both the fruit and terroir, favouring very gentle pump-overs.
Blending Cabernet Sauvignon (52%) and Merlot (48%), the Blason d’Issan 2018 offers radiant and intense fruit aromas on the nose, while the palate reveals a beautifully precise and refined texture. A great vintage of Blason d’Issan.
