Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for the Chambolle-Musigny Village 2018 from Bouchard Père & Fils
Tasting
Appearance
The wine displays a bright, luminous garnet-red hue.
Nose
The nose is elegantly expressive, opening on aromas of small red berries, notably raspberry and strawberry. Floral notes of violet and rose enrich the bouquet, accompanied by a delicate touch of oak.
Palate
On the palate, this wine charms with its tenderness and finesse. The attack is fresh, while the mid-palate reveals a silky texture with fine, refined tannins. The structure remains elegant, without excessive sturdiness, carried by vibrant acidity. The finish lingers with complexity, revealing a saline minerality characteristic of the limestone terroir.
Food and wine pairings
This Chambolle-Musigny Village 2018 is an ideal match for lamb chops, a leg of lamb, or a rack of lamb. It also pairs beautifully with delicate white meats such as veal, poultry in sauce, or soft-ripened cheeses like Brillat-Savarin, Reblochon, or Brie de Meaux.
Serving and cellaring
It is recommended to serve this Chambolle-Musigny Village 2018 at a temperature between 17 and 18°C. Allowing it to aerate for around thirty minutes before serving will enable the wine to fully reveal its aromas. This wine can be enjoyed now and through approximately 2033.

The estate
Founded in 1731 by Michel Bouchard, the House of Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy’s leading wine institutions. The estate now farms around 130 hectares across the Côte d'Or, including prestigious Grands Crus such as Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Corton, and Corton-Charlemagne. Acquired in September 2022 by Artémis Domaines, owned by the Pinault family, the estate is headed by Frédéric Engerer and Jean-Marc Pistre. Certified organic since 2025, Bouchard Père & Fils continues its conversion to biodynamics, embodying the alliance between historic heritage and contemporary excellence in Burgundy.
The vineyard
The Chambolle-Musigny appellation lies in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, between Morey-Saint-Denis and Vougeot. The vines thrive on slopes facing east-southeast, at an altitude between 250 and 300 meters. The terroir rests on a limestone base covered by a thin layer of soil, forcing the roots to delve deep into fissures in the rock to draw minerals and water. This distinctive geological setting gives Chambolle-Musigny wines their hallmark finesse and mineral elegance.
The vintage
The year 2018 in Burgundy began with a wet winter that replenished the soils’ water reserves. Spring saw a few cold spells in March, delaying budbreak and limiting the risk of frost. Flowering took place quickly around May 19. Summer was marked by exceptional heat and prolonged drought from July to September, placing 2018 among the hottest vintages since 1945. Beneficial rains in mid-August allowed the berries to swell. Harvesting took place very early, between September 1 and 3 for Chambolle-Musigny, with healthy grapes showing beautiful ripeness.
Winemaking and aging
Chambolle-Musigny Village 2018 benefited from plot-by-plot vinification that respects the fruit. Aging took place in oak barrels with a moderate proportion of new oak, preserving aromatic delicacy while bringing an elegant structure to the wine.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
