The estate
A true emblem of the vineyard, Château du Moulin-à-Vent has been located at the heart of the prestigious eponymous appellation, in the north of Beaujolais, since 1732. With over three centuries of history, the estate has seen three families succeed one another who, despite distinct paths, have all championed the primacy of Moulin-à-Vent. Under the management of the Parinet family since 2009, the Château has experienced an exemplary renaissance driven by two bold spirits, Édouard Parinet and Brice Laffond. Driven by enthusiasm, curiosity and passion, they craft wines of high precision, true mirrors of the great Beaujolais terroirs.
The vineyard
From the lieu-dit "Les Vérillats", this wine comes from a 4.4-hectare plot located at 300 meters altitude, within the Moulin-à-Vent appellation. The soils, composed of gorrhe, manganese and iron oxide, provide a distinctive identity. The cuvée is made from vines approximately 70 years old.
Winemaking and aging
Hand-harvested, the grapes are gently placed in 30-liter containers, then rigorously sorted on two sorting tables. At vatting, 50% of the harvest is destemmed to preserve integrity and freshness. Fermentation takes place without added sulfites, punctuated by precise pump-overs and careful daily punch-downs. Aging takes place over 18 months, half in stainless steel tanks and half in French oak barrels.
Grape variety
Gamay (100%).
