Colour
The colour reveals a deep, dark red hue, evolving towards garnet with subtle brick-red highlights at the rim.

Nose
Opulent and sensual, the bouquet reveals intense aromas of ripe black fruit, reminiscent of Boysenberry. This is underscored by mineral notes of graphite and charcoal, complemented by delicate hints of toasted bread.

Palate
With a fine backbone, the palate is dense, linear and refined. The mid-palate reveals a slightly gamey character, while the supple, structured finish stretches on with sublime length, offering nuances of plum, spice and a touch of bitter orange.

The Classic Elegance of a Great Pauillac Wine

The Estate

The history of Château Duhart-Milon began in the early 18th century, but it was in 1855 that it was officially recognised as a fourth-classified growth. Located in Pauillac, in the Bordeaux region, this distinctive estate takes its name from Sieur Duhart, a former privateer under Louis XV, and from the hamlet of Milon. Acquired in 1962 by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), the vineyard underwent extensive restructuring. Today, under the leadership of Saskia de Rothschild, the estate combines technical precision with strong environmental commitments, all while preserving its classic, aristocratic Médoc style.

The Vineyard

The 76-hectare vineyard extends across the Milon hillside, north of the Pauillac appellation. The vines, averaging around 30 years of age, thrive on soils composed of sandy gravel resting on a subsoil of tertiary limestone. This terroir benefits from an exceptional environment, bordered by vast marshes, meadows and woodlands that foster rich biodiversity. The estate is also committed to a strong environmental approach, including the creation of ecological corridors and a conversion to organic farming.

The Vintage

The year 1999 is recognised in Bordeaux as a classic vintage. It produced balanced, characterful wines, particularly on the Left Bank, offering a beautiful expression of terroir at full maturity.

Winemaking and Ageing

The grapes destined for Château Duhart-Milon 1999 are vinified plot by plot in a winery located at the heart of the village. Fermentation takes place in small-volume vats to preserve the identity of each individual batch. Following a rigorous selection process, the wine is aged for around 14 months in oak barrels, half of which are new, crafted by the Domaines Barons de Rothschild cooperage.
