Appearance
This red wine reveals a deep ruby-purple hue with a dark core. Over time, it takes on subtle brick-red glints at the rim while retaining a beautiful density.

Nose
Remarkably pure, the nose intensely expresses aromas of black fruits such as blackcurrant and blackberry. It is enriched by mineral notes of graphite and wet stone, harmoniously blended with touches of cedar, tobacco and black truffle.

Palate
The attack is soft and ripe, opening onto a dense, seriously structured mid-palate. The tannins, though firm and tight-knit, shine with their nobility. The finish, remarkably long, unfolds spicy flavours along with notes of dark chocolate and damp earth.

Food and Wine Pairings
This great wine pairs wonderfully with roasted or grilled red meats, such as a rack of lamb or a well-aged rib of beef. It also elevates feathered game served with mushrooms, as well as long-matured hard cheeses.

Serving and Cellaring
Built to withstand the test of time, the Château Duhart-Milon 2000 requires patience. It has entered its optimal tasting window and will continue to evolve beautifully until around the 2030s.

The Classic Elegance of a Great Pauillac Wine

The Estate
The winegrowing history of the Milon terroir dates back to the 18th century, but it was between 1830 and 1840 that the Castéja family truly founded the estate. The only fourth-ranked Grand Cru Classé of its commune in the 1855 classification, Château Duhart-Milon was acquired in 1962 by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), its current owners. Located in France, in the Bordeaux region, this 76-hectare estate benefits from modern facilities. It produces wines of great ageing potential, renowned for their precision, environmental stewardship and classic elegance.

The Vineyard
Forming a single block adjacent to its famous neighbour within the Pauillac appellation, the vineyard is planted on fine gravel and windblown sand soils, resting on a limestone subsoil. Bordering a vast protected natural area of marshland and woods, this unique terroir fosters rich biodiversity. The vines, on average around thirty years old, are undergoing conversion to organic farming alongside environmentally responsible practices.

Winemaking and Ageing
The grapes undergo meticulous plot-by-plot vinification in modern temperature-controlled vats, allowing each lot to be isolated. The Château Duhart-Milon 2000 is then aged in French oak barrels, half of which are new, for around fourteen months to refine its structure.
