Château Liot 2024

Medium lemon-gold in hue. The nose is subtle and slow to unfurl, with restrained notes of dried apricot and orange peel emerging with aeration. On the palate, however, the wine struggles to find harmony. While there are hints of peach and pineapple, the oak influence is assertive, bringing a pronounced bitterness that dominates the finish. The Semillon character is evident, but without the lift of balancing acidity, the texture feels slightly heavy and the midpalate somewhat flat. 100 g/l residual sugar.

Dried fruits perfume the first wafts, recalling apricot, fig, pineapple and pear. The palate is creamy and bright, with lovely freshness that elevates the substance. Subtle bitters tease the taste buds on the finish and make you want to come back for more.

Lots of freshness and complexity in the Liot 2024 bouquet! You can clearly feel the chalky character of the terroir complemented by notes of saffron, white flowers and fresh pineapple. Smooth and even slightly saline on the palate, the wine certainly celebrates charm and freshness. Its acidity provides excellent structure throughout, while subtle bitterness supports the aromatic expression right through to the finish. An inviting, harmonious and persistent wine. It will certainly be delicious already in its youth… and it has the structure necessary to age well! A beautiful success.

The nose offers a certain concentration but seems closed. It expresses notes of candied citrus (candied bitter orange, grapefruit jam, candied lemon peel). Aeration reveals sweet, indulgent notes of vanilla, toasted hazelnut, lemon yogurt, sweet yellow peach, crushed apricot, as well as honey, apple blossom and acacia. The palate is more expressive, with an attack combining the tangy and sweet character of candied citrus (candied lemon peel, grapefruit jam and bitter orange), a lactic touch of lemon cream, and the sweetness of peaches in syrup, pineapple in syrup and roasted apricot. There is also a spicy, toasty side of vanilla, wood and toasted hazelnut. Good length, gourmand, tangy and balanced.

Preserved lemon, pineapple and creme caramel, this is pretty intense and concentrated for the vintage, good quality, lusicous, a touch heavy. Harvest 19 September to 23 October. Owner Jonathan David,
